Villa Rita
About
  • Lead designer/ Kager Italija
  • Location/ Mezzegra, Lake Como
  • Size/ 232 m²
  • Roof shape/ Mono-pitch and flat roofs

An individually designed house on the hillside above Lake Como makes the most of one of its greatest assets: open views of the lake and surrounding mountains. The architecture follows the terrain and creates a natural connection between the house, garden and landscape.

The design combines Mediterranean architectural influences, contemporary living solutions and thoughtful organisation of the outdoor areas. The pool, covered terraces and garden are conceived as extensions of the living space.

The central atrium connects both floors and opens up views throughout the home.

The house is arranged around a central atrium that opens views through the building from the moment of entry and connects the two floors. With its tall entrance space and distinctive semicircular windows, the atrium becomes the main point of orientation throughout the house.

The floor plan is clearly divided into private and living areas. The bedroom wing is separated from the open living room, providing greater privacy while preserving a natural flow between the home’s different functions.

Large glazed surfaces, covered terraces and an outdoor dining area create a direct connection to the garden, pool and panoramic views of the lake and surrounding landscape.
